Aberdeen Jazz Festival: Belmont Street Afternoon Blues

Top class blues, with a twist of jazz and soul will be all over Belmont Street on the afternoon of Saturday 10th March with a host of great names playing informal sets in three intimate venues. With a rover ticket you can roam from venue to venue checking out the music and the atmosphere. Three hours of great blues in three venues in Belmont Street for £12.

 

The programme features:

 

Mike Whellans 

“One of Scotland's heroes, a bluesman of amazing  ability...a totally brilliant one man band” (Mike Harding, BBC). The undisputed master of the one-man blues format, playing electric and acoustic guitar, mouth harp, drums and mouth percussion.

 

Michael Roach

The singer and guitarist hailing from Washington DC, learned his trade from fathers of Piedmont blues, the classic East Coast style from the 1920s.

 

Jed Potts Hillman Hunters

Three piece electric band playing blues inspired by 50s and 60s American classics, whether laying back into a Freddie King ballad or digging-in to a hypnotic Muddy Waters groove. 

 

Dixie Fried

Deep down and dirty Mississippi Blues Rock from guitarist/vocalist Craig Lamie and drummer John Murphy. A simple back porch approach to Delta blues, some dirty slide guitar and a dose of rock rhythms. 

 

Lyndon Anderson & Sandy Tweeddale

Harmonica player Lyndon is “one of the best in the business and he also possesses a great big soul voice" (Blues In Britain). He joins top Scottish blues guitarist Sandy Tweeddale of Blues N Trouble fame
