Welcome to the 15 concert with the Aberdeen Singing Chorus.
Despite having the same title, this is not BBC Television’s political debate programme chaired by David Dimbleby!
Instead, what we have is a programme consisting of 66 songs – the titles or first lines of the lyrics are all in the form of questions.
For example, how many songs can you think of starting with the words Who? What? Why? Where? How? When? Chances are they will all feature somewhere in tonight’s programme.
Since we started in the Millennium, we have sung more than 860 songs and with tonight’s programme to add to the list, it will bring the total to well above the 900 mark.
As usual, the programme consists of different musical styles from the various eras of Popular Song.
There are old-time “Golden Oldies” and community songs. We have classic pop and rock hits from the 50s, 60s and 70s as well as popular film and television theme songs. There are ballads and jazz standards including songs from the ‘Great American Songbook’. We have favourite songs from the musicals and in addition, we have Scottish and Irish ‘questions’, a sea shanty and even some Nursery Rhymes!
As the old cliché goes – “there is something for everyone”.
As always, we invite you to sing along with us.
