Are you ready to “kick off your Sunday shoes”?  Our Intermediate group certainly are with this rockin’ 1980’s musical “Footloose”.

Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small town where dancing and rock and roll have been banned.  Rev Shaw Moore has exercised this law after the death of his son and 3 others in an alcohol/party related car accident.  Ren who loves music and dancing finds himself at odds with the townsfolk and befriends Willard, local country hick.  He falls for the preacher’s rebellious daughter, Ariel, who convinces him to put music back into the community by proposing a teenage prom be held.  After raising this at the town meeting which proved unsuccessful, he manages to convince the minister who then relents to allow the prom and in the process, helps the town to heal from a tragedy that affected them all.  Featuring hits such as “Holding Out for a Hero”, “Let’s Hear it for the Boy” and title song “Footloose”, this fast paced and youthful spirited musical will have your toes tapping as you “Can’t Stand Still”.
