The band were formed in the summer of 2013 by Harry Johns and Anthony Wright following Johns departure from Dinosaur Pile-Up and the hiatus of Castrovalva, who teamed up with former Leftöver Crack drummer Tom Knox and We Were Frontiers guitarist Matt Wright. The group's was originally known as the Yorkshire Brawlers. The name came from a play on WWE wrestler Steve Lombardi's ring name the Brooklyn Brawler. Eventually the Yorkshire bit was dropped after the band started to branch further outside of Yorkshire and rechristened themselves Brawlers. In early 2014 the band released their debut EPI Am a Worthless Piece of Shit was released on Alcopop!
