MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards Folk Band of the Year winner 2012″

‘As disciplined as they’re fiery, as tasteful as they’re exhilarating, they blend the best of old and new in truly compelling style’ Scotsman

Breabach deliver a thrilling and unique brand of contemporary folk music which has earned the group international recognition on the world and roots music scene as one of the UK’s most dynamic and powerful bands.

Voted ‘Best Group’ at the most recent Scots Trad Music Awards, Breabach have also received nominations in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and as ‘European Folk Group of the Year’ in the German Folk Awards. The band intertwine highland bagpipes, fiddle, guitar, bass, flute, bouzouki, step dance, Gaelic and Scots song to produce a diverse and captivating performance.

Following January’s sell out of the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall  for ‘The Big Burns Night’ hosted by Breabach at Celtic Connections, 2013 has already seen international performances from Paris and Norway to Central Park, NY. The turn of the year has unquestionably evoked a revived sense of community within the band.  Ewan, James, James, Megan and Calum will be returning to their hometowns to gather with family, friends and local tradition bearers throughout the year to learn stories, tunes and take inspiration in advance of their highly anticipated fourth album – due out in November 2013.

The band invite you to follow them as each journey unfolds through a series of gigs, podcasts, videos and interviews online.
