This December Con Anima present a concert of festive music conducted by Dr Roger B Williams (MBE) in St Andrew's Cathedral, King Street, Aberdeen.
Music performed will focus around Poulenc's Four Motets for Christmas Time: O Magnum Mysterium (O Great Mystery), Quem Vidistis, Pastores? (What did you see, Shepherds?), Videntes Stellam (See the Star), and Hodie Christus natus est (Christ is Born Today). The rest of the concert will explore settings of these texts and related themes, including works by Lauridsen, Byrd, Sweelinck, and Mathias. Also featuring will be the world premiere of a piece, commissioned to fit with the theme of the concert, by University of Aberdeen PhD composition student Sarah Rimkus.
The concert will be accompanied on the organ by Prof. Andrew Morrisson.
