James Robertson is one of Scotland’s finest novelists who has produced a body of work which is wide in its historical sweep but rich in detail and sharply observed. He tackles big themes - slavery inJoseph Knight, the Lockerbie bombing in in The Professor of Truth, 60 years of social and political change in Scotland in And The Land Lay Still. By contrast, his latest book, To Be Continued…is a surreal and playful romp. He is also a poet and short story writer and has published several collections, many in Scots, as well as books for children. His many awards include the Saltire Prize, which he has won twice.
