‘Ambitious and beautifully wrought, Dear River should mark Barker’s entry into the big leagues’- **** Q

“Heartfelt song writing…bridging the gap between folk, country and Fleetwood Mac”

 **** The Times

Folk singer-songwriters are hardly an endangered species in 2013 but there should still be room for those as talented as Emily Barker’–  **** Evening Standard

Emily Barker & The Red Clay Halo are set to release the new double A-side single Ghost Narrative / Tuesday on 06 October 2013 on Linn Records to coincide with the band's biggest ever UK tour which includes a show at The Lemon Tree.

Ghost Narrative is a heartfelt song about listening and learning from others, and how that can lead to a change in our own perceptions. The lyrics were inspired by a life-changing experience Emily had when researching the theme of “home” for the critically acclaimed Dear River album where she spent a day with a Noongar (Indigenous clan from the South west of Australia) man, walking along the Blackwood River and sharing ideas on the subject of home and belonging; they parted with a wish that their cultures would do more of this in the future: listen and learn from one another, acknowledge their differences and discover their similarities.

Emily Barker is a BAFTA and Ivor Novello award-winning songwriter, whose music is known by millions as the theme to Kenneth Brannagh’s acclaimed adaptation of Swedish crime drama Wallander and the BBC hit drama The Shadow Line. Having released three critically acclaimed albums, played a string of sold-out UK dates, performed with Frank Turner at the London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony, Emily has emerged with a compelling song cycle that makes Dear River an unmistakable watershed in her rapidly burgeoning career.

A Play, a Pie and a Pint: 'Auntie Agatha Comes To Tea' George Milne @ The Lemon Tree

Damien and Martin are brothers who do not see very much of their elderly Aunt Agatha. But the business is in difficulties. Agatha has wisdom, experience, and money. It’s the money that they want to focus on. Expecting to inherit her cash, and not too enthusiastic about the wait, it is decided the time is right to invite her round for a “ fly cup.” They have also bought some poison. At the visit, revelations unfold, attitudes change, consciences rise and sink, and refreshments are served. Nothing will be the same after Auntie Agatha comes to tea.
