Followingthe critical success of Die Zauberflöte (2012), Carmen (2011) and the Marriage of Figaro (2010), the University of Aberdeen Opera Society this year presents its most ambitious project to date: the classic story of love, rejection, jealousy and regret adapted from Pushkin's poetic novel Eugene Onegin with glorious melodies and luscious orchestration from Tchaikovsky. When the bookish Tatyana meets the enigmatic Eugene Onegin he seems to her like the heroes in her romantic novels; his careless rejection of her love triggers a chain of events that can lead only to tragedy.
