Wednesday 24 July, 12.30 to 1pm
Aberdeen not only exported granite, but also imported it from the last decade of the nineteenth century, as shown in the Art Gallery’s fine examples of turned and polished granite columns. Join curator Jenny Brown for this talk on the Granite Supply Association, which imported granite for Aberdeen yards, and a closer look at twentieth century fashions in granite.
Aberdeen Art Gallery is in Schoolhill, AB10 1FQ. The venue is fully wheelchair accessible and a lift is available for the upper floors – please ask on arrival.
This talk will give the opportunity to handle samples of local and international granites from the museum collections.
