Jazz at the Blue Lamp presents

Tom Green Septet: “Skyline” Album Launch

Winner of the 2013 Dankworth Prize for Jazz Composition and mentioned three times as Jazzwise magazine’s “One to Watch 2014”, Tom Green is one of the most exciting young trombonists and composers currently active in the UK. His Septet weaves together influences as diverse as flamenco, traditional folk and New Orleans second line, to form tunes with striking melodies, colourful harmony and propulsive grooves. Bringing together some of the most talented young musicians in the London jazz scene, the group creates a melodic, warm and distinct sound world using the full range of textures available in the seven-piece ensemble.

The Septet has performed across the UK and internationally, including an 8-date UK tour in December 2013, performances at Wigmore Hall and the Stables in Wavendon, and recent workshops, festivals and concerts in Tunisia, Italy and Switzerland. They are undertaking a major UK tour in Spring 2015 to support the release of their first studio album, “Skyline”.

“Remarkable… only the very best arrangers can get a sound like that from four horns”

Evan Parker

“Some of the most exciting original new music I have heard for a long time”

Dame Cleo Laine

“Contemporary chamber jazz that is both elegant and lively, full of tightly written passages that blossom into free playing with natural ease”

Tony Benjamin, Venue Magazine Bristol
