May Festival Aberdonians in the Americas Something Different

May Festival Aberdonians in the Americas

An illustrated talk by the ‘Aberdonians in the Americas’ exhibition co-curators, Maggie Bolton (Lecturer in Anthropology) and Patience Schell (Professor in Hispanic Studies), exploring the lives of five people who travelled from Aberdeen to Latin America in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.  They went to seek their fortunes for different reasons – as explorers, doctors, miners, or missionaries – and found cultures and experiences strikingly different from their lives at home.
