May Festival SCANDI SATURDAY Kenneth Steven

Join Perthshire poet, translator and novelist Kenneth Steven for the first of the Festival’s three Scandinavian-themed literary events.  Kenneth spent two years in Norway working in Folk High Schools, becoming fluent in both major dialects of Norwegian.  Commissioned to translate the Nordic Prize-winning novel The Half Brother (his translation went on to be short-listed for two major literary awards), he has since translated a number of other books by contemporary Norwegian novelists, poets and non-fiction writers.  More recently, Kenneth’s work on the story of the Sami people of Arctic Scandinavia – Beneath the Ice – was published by Saraband.  Book Signing: 1.30pm, May Tent, King’s Lawn.
