Guitarist Malcolm McFarlane and tenor sax man Gordon McNeil are both godfathers of the Scottish jazz scene and have worked together for many years. They have now formed their own quartet and recorded a new CD “Silver Linings” of their own compositions that vary from dreamy to powerful but always inventive and contemporary. They are joined by other Scottish greats, Tom Gordon drums, Dave Bowden on bass and the great Chick Lyall on piano. Gordon has not played the Lamp for a number of years so we are delighted at getting the chance of seeing and listening to him once more.
They will be playing some numbers from their CDs but also what Gordon calls “tasty” covers of the jazz standard repertoire.
