Model Aeroplanes is made up of four lifelong friends, brought together by their love of making fresh, honest pop music.
Since forming in January 2013, Model Aeroplanes released a successful first single, Crazy, which secured the band a slot on the prestigious BBC Introducing Stage at Scotland's T in the Park music festival, where they received one of the biggest crowds for that stage over the weekend.
The single reached over 10,000 plays before its release date due to its features on many international internet blogs such as Clash, featured as track of the month; When The Gramophone Rings; This is Fake DIY and Indie Shuffle as well as the track's several national and regional radio airplays on the likes of Radio 1.
The single received plays in public shops such as River Island and on the international retail distributor ASOS on most of their catwalk videos, as well as being synced on Sky Sports with Soccer AM.
During this period the band were invited to perform with The Editors at their sold out show at The Edinburgh Picture House and with The View at a sold out home town show in Dundee as well as being featured on Hype Machine.
Along with this, the four boys have performed as Model Aeroplanes at the ASCAP and Communion showcases in London.
The band's second single, Innocent Love, secured several national radio plays on BBC Radio 1 and several regional radio plays also. The track also gained the band an invitation to perform at the Dr. Marten's "Stand For Something" tour, where they played to a sold out crowd at the o2 ABC 2 in Glasgow alongside Dry The River. As well as this the band were recently performing at events such as Liverpool SoundCity and stag and Dagger.
After working with a Scottish label, Model Aeroplanes have recently released their most recent single – Electricity – which has since had air time on Radio 1 with BBC Introducing and Huw Stephens as well as being voted the most popular track on the Radio 1 Review Show with Edith Bowman.
The video for Electricity was released during this time, which received 10,000 views in 3 days. Model Aeroplanes were since offered a slot at the BBC Introducing Stage during Radio 1's Big Weekend in Glasgow and the single was also synced with an episode of the E4 show "Made in Chelsea".
The band has been featured on numerous blogs with positive reviews and have had extensive press coverage. With festivals such as Barn on the Farm, Main Stage at Wickerman and T-Break at T in the Park coming up, this summer looks to be huge for the boys.
