The Work Room presents Pioneers of Performance: Face On (Anna Kryzstek)
A day of quality dance for all ages, curated by the Work Room, a dance development company from Glasgow. 45 mins | Suitable for all ages
In this striking multimedia piece, a lone figure is waiting. At once both immediate and distant, she appears in relation to the time, space, sounds, objects & filmed images that surround her.
A vivid soundscore, minimal monochrome video and choreographed motifs all juxtapose with each other, inviting the viewer to experience a sublime state of intimacy as the figure connects to the sequence of changing situations.
‘Krzystek’s total immersion in the physicality and intention of every nuance is like a magnet... The wonderment at her technical prowess and the scope of the material kicks in afterwards – and, believe me, that impact doesn’t fade with the years.’ The Herald
‘exceptional, radical talent... No-one in Scotland, or the UK for that matter, originates work like this’ The Herald on Trilogy
A New Territories (2011) commission, co-produced as part of the Open Latitudes network funded by the European Commission EACEA Culture Programme. Additional support by Creative Scotland, The Work Room, CCA, Tramway, The Nightingale, Catalyst Dance Management, Oblivia.
