Crooked Timber Theatre presents Liang & the Magic Paintbrus
Puppet Animation Festival 2015
Liang dreams of being a painter but is too poor to buy himself a paintbrush. Join him on a magical adventure to find out if dreams really can come true.
This inventive and gentle show for all the family combines charming wooden puppets, shadow theatre, origami, live painting and video images to bring this well-loved Chinese tale to life.
Set up in 2011 by its artistic director and performer Gemma Khawaja, Crooked Timber Theatre creates small scale touring shows for family audiences, combining traditional storytelling and puppetry with innovative shadow effects and video.
Gemma’s extensive experience as a performer with leading UK children’s theatre companies, combined with her puppet-making skills, led her to explore and begin devising her own original creative work. This is Crooked Timber’s first visit to the Puppet Animation Festival.
"The show clearly captivated the children and the adults were appreciative too... The innovative use of water as a paint creating transparency on the screen was as magic as the paintbrush in the title" General Manager, Norwich Puppet Theatre
