Classical singer Russell Watson will perform at Aberdeen’s His Majesty’s Theatre for a one-off charity concert. He will be accompanied by the Aberdeen Sinfonietta. Sponsored by BP, the event is being organised by the Lord Provost’s Charitable Trust, with all proceeds going to its chosen beneficiary, Scottish social care charity Cornerstone.
The Lancashire-born tenor will visit Aberdeen for the first time for the performance on Thursday, August 21. Russell has been singing since he was a child and became known after performing at a working men’s club. He has released singles and albums of both operatic and pop songs and will be showcasing his latest album, Only One Man, as well as popular classical numbers.
Founded in 1987, Aberdeen Sinfonietta has established itself as one of the foremost contributors to music-making in the North-east, giving regular concerts in the Music Hall as well as providing the orchestra for choral societies in and around Aberdeen.
