Saffron is the iconic lead singer of the electronica band Republica. The band shot to fame in the height 90s Britpop with their self-titled album which reached number 4 in the UK charts with hits including "Ready to go" & "Drop Dead Gorgeous". These anthems cemented Republic’s place in British music history & many regard Saffron as the queen of Britpop.
Performing alongside Saffron will be well respected guitarist Darren Beale, most well known for playing guitar for Bob Geldof’s Boomtown Rats.
Nick Mercer Jr will also play a set and is the lead singer from the 4-piece indie rock band Sergeant from Glenrothes, who were signed to Mercury Records. The band played at both the 2007 T in the Park and Glastonbury festivals and have attracted a fan base and media attention extending well outside their Scottish base.
Prior to the release of their first album, the band were chosen to support Oasis on the four Scottish dates and also to support The Fratellis on the full UK tour. After many years apart & with some great solo material along the way, the band have found themselves back together with a number of well anticipated gigs announced for 2016.
The proceeds of this fantastic gig will go to a specialist cancer charity: CTRT.Org.uk: The Cancer Treatment and Research Trust (CTRT) was founded in 1985. Its main role is to raise funding for research into why and how cancers develop; better ways of detecting and monitoring cancers; and finding and testing new treatments.
