Dance meets drama with powerful effect in Scottish Ballet's iconic and vivid reinterpretation of Shakespeare's greatest love story.

Choreographer Krzysztof Pastor (Polish National Ballet) has created a Romeo and Juliet for Scottish Ballet as timeless as love itself; set against a dramatic multimedia backdrop, his story of star-crossed lovers spans three decades of Italian life.

Romeo and Juliet is set to the world-famous Prokofiev score - performed live by the Scottish Ballet Orchestra and with special rearrangement by kind permission of the Prokofiev estate.

Audio Description

Sat 3 May 2014 at 2pm, preceded by a touch tour at 12.30pm

Did you know that Scottish Ballet was the first dance company in Europe to offer audio description? Visually impaired audience members are provided with headsets, allowing them to hear the commentary given live by a member of the Scottish Ballet team. As the curtain rises the audio description begins and every step the dancers take on stage is brought to life. Prior to the described performance, a touch tour offers visually impaired patrons the opportunity to get up close to a selection of costumes and props.

If you book in advance for an audio described performance you will receive a CD containing a brief synopsis of the ballet and detailed descriptions of the characters, costumes and set before attending the show.

When booking your seat please let the box office know that you will be using the audio description facility as the equipment works better in certain seating areas.
