Regretfully due to unforeseen scheduling difficulties, Lars Vogt is unable to prepare the Schoenberg concerto for this concert. He is, however, very grateful to the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Principal Conductor Robin Ticciati for agreeing to change to the Schumann Piano Concerto. This is a concerto which he and Robin have wanted to perform together for a long time and as much as they regret not doing Schoenberg this time they are looking forward to working on Schumann’s amazing masterpiece together.

The Brahms series continues with the second Symphony. When working on it, Brahms wrote contentedly to a friend ‘The melodies flow so freely that one must be careful not to tread on them.’ Opening the concert is the supreme and energetic Manfred Overture by Brahms’ friend Schumann.
