Steve Martland
Eternity’s Sunrise
Borodin
Sinfonia for Strings (String Quartet No.2, arr. Lucas Drew)

Celebrate the coming of Christmas with Scottish Ensemble’s atmospheric candlelit concert —and with one of the most fondly cherished pieces of music ever written.

The endless sublime melodies of Mozart’s joyful Eine kleine Nachtmusik ensure its enduring popularity, and it’s matched in exquisite tunefulness by Borodin’s Sinfonia for Strings. Written as a love letter to his wife, the work’s third movement takes the form of a Nocturne and is one of his best-loved and instantly recognisable tunes. In between come new arrangements of two Chopin Nocturnes by David Matthews, and the red-hot rhythms of Steve Martland’s gripping Eternity’s Sunrise.
