Part of the Silver City Stories weekend
What Country Friends Is this? is a dialogue between the past and the present. In 1601 the King’s Players visited and performed in Aberdeen and Gdańsk in Poland. Taking inspiration from this historic visit, our performance weaves stories of migration and travelling players past and present, with moments of arrival in Shakespeare’s greatest plays.
Interviews with the local Polish community and touring actors have taken place in the development of this project.
In partnership with the Centre for Early Modern Studies and the WORD Centre for Creative Writing at the University of Aberdeen.
