As part of sound’s Endangered Instruments series sound aims to support composers to create new works for these instruments. This year sees the festival shine a spotlight on the bassoon, an often overlooked but incredibly versatile instrument.
In an exciting Franco‐Scottish collaboration, sound has joined forces with Red Note, Scotland's contemporary music ensemble, and one of the most prominent bassoon players in the world, Pascal Gallois, to commission a new work from renowned British composer, Benedict Mason which will be premiered tonight alongside two works by French composers.
Benedict Mason ‐ New Work* (world premiere)
Philippe Hersant ‐ Huit Pieces Pour Basson Et Ensemble Instrumental
Grisey ‐ Talea for flute, clarinet, violin, cello and piano"
