Britain has a long and varied geological history which has shaped its unique countryside, from the upland areas to the coast, the terrain that forms the arena for our outdoor sports is a direct consequence of the underlying strata. In this talk we will look at the geological history of Scotland and the rest of the UK from the perspective of the outdoor enthusiasts whose weekend enjoyment is shaped by forces that are hundreds of millions of years in the making.
