Technology provides us with exciting opportunities in a digital age, from being able to use social media to connect us to our friends, family and businesses through to speech recognition devices such as Alexa that can learn your likes and dislikes. However, many technologies that we rely on in our day to day lives rely on use of our personal information. This presents challenges for society and business to find the right balance between the right to privacy and the demands of a digitally connected citizen. In this session, Burness Paull’s data protection and privacy expert, Ross McKenzie, will talk about his experiences in advising clients in the technology sector on privacy issues, and will look at how the law has shaped what businesses can and can’t do with our personal information.
