interesting music promotions in association with APA present
Riley Briggs of Aberfeldy joins us for a rare solo performance
The first show ever promoted under the banner interesting music promotions was Michael Marra at The Cowdray Hall on 29th June 1990. We all grew to love him and over the years promoted many more shows in various venues before his untimely death in October 2012
It therefore gives us great pleasure to welcome his daughter Alice and her band to Aberdeen
Continuing to celebrate the much-missed Michael Marra’s musical legacy, his daughter Alice – of Dundonian indie-popsters The Hazey Janes – performs songs from her debut solo album, Chain Up the Swings. Alice brings a stripped back version of the big band arrangements on the album to The Lemon Tree, featuring a quartet made up of Alice on vocals and fellow Dundee musicians Ross Nicoll (keyboard, acoustic guitar and vocals), Chris Marra (acoustic guitar and vocals) and Seonaid Birse (clarsach and accordion)
Expect classics and rarities from Michael’s songbook as Alice pays tribute to her late father and keeps the songs alive.
A timely visit following the publication in October of “Michael Marra: Arrest This Moment”, the first full-scale biography of Michael, written by acclaimed author and friend James Robertson.
