The National Theatre’s internationally acclaimed production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time returns to Aberdeen.

Winner of 7 Olivier Awards and 5 Tony Awards® including ‘Best Play’, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time brings Mark Haddon’s best-selling novel to thrilling life on stage, adapted by two-time Olivier Award-winning playwright Simon Stephens and directed by Olivier and Tony Award®-winning director Marianne Elliott.

Christopher, fifteen years old, has an extraordinary brain – exceptional at maths while ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. He has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road, he detests being touched and he distrusts strangers. When he falls under the suspicion of killing Mrs Shears’ dog, it takes him on a journey that upturns his world.

Pre-Show Insight Sessions

The National Theatre Insight Sessions are an opportunity to take part in an interactive session where you will explore the making of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, and discover how the Creative Team approached the development, rehearsal and production process. We will explore two exciting topics throughout the afternoon!

Inside the Rehearsal Room, 3.30pm - 4.30pm | Book Your Place
This session will offer an overview of how the creative team worked collaboratively to bring the production to life, as well as practical demonstrations of how the actors and directors work together in rehearsals to unlock the script!

Technical In Focus, 5pm - 6pm | Book Your Place
This session offers a multi-media insight into the processes used by the design team when imagining this production for the first time. It will explore how the audio/visual elements have evolved in line with the staging of the production, and offer you an understanding of the stagecraft displayed on stage!

This is truly the best thing I have seen on stage in a long time. The portrayal of the characters were superb and the staging and special effects breath-taking. As a teacher specialising in work with children on the autistic spectrum, I was very impressed with the actors sensitivity and believability in bringing this story to life and portraying the real roller coaster of emotions experienced by families. My sons 12 and 15, who are not easily impressed, talked about the show non-stop all the way home. A change from computer game chat, so thanks. Totally fantastic!!

Absolutely amazing performance given by all, gives a real insight into autism from the perspective of the individual, their family and the wider community. Very emotional stuff. It's really worth seeing! Been twice now, will be going again when next in Aberdeen. Loved it, well done!!!
