In October 1998 Matthew Shepard was kidnapped, severely beaten and left to die, tied to a fence on the outskirts of Laramie, Wyoming.  In the year following his death Moises Kaufmann and the Tectonic Theater Project conducted more than 200 interviews with the residents in the town and wrote this play which examines what it means to hate and the impacts of this shocking crime.
