The Mark of Zorro

Written by Davey Anderson

Directed by Douglas Irvine

Free pre-show talk with one of the actors in the production at 6.15pm

A mysterious figure has arrived in town.

A flurry of a cape, the glint of a sword and a flash of a mask; who is this baffling character?  Exciting friend or formidable foe?

If you’re looking for some swash buckling fun, come and lock swords with Zorro.  Watch as our masked champion ricochets from one sticky situation to another in a world where adventure is the name and justice is the game!

Watch out for ‘Z’s scratched into the ground, it might mark the start of a thrilling escapade . . .

Script originally commissioned and co-produced with the Traverse Theatre.

‘This is a compelling piece of third-person storytelling in which the three actors create a vivid sense of a pre-gold rush California with the swashbuckling pace of an adventure movie.’ The Guardian, Mark Fisher

‘Think spaghetti western meets Batman.  If there’s a hint of The Magnificent Three in David Trouton’s music, it drives director Dougie Irvine and his cast to go hell for leather, which they do to pulse-racing effect.’ The Herald,  Mary Brennan

‘This pacey adaptation attests, the heroic hombre’s adventures are easily pitched to fans of all ages. Highly enjoyable from start to finish.’ The List, Allan Radcliff

‘Racey-pacey adventure brought vividly to life.’  Lynn Walker, The Independent

A Play, a Pie and a Pint: 'Auntie Agatha Comes To Tea' George Milne @ The Lemon Tree

Damien and Martin are brothers who do not see very much of their elderly Aunt Agatha. But the business is in difficulties. Agatha has wisdom, experience, and money. It’s the money that they want to focus on. Expecting to inherit her cash, and not too enthusiastic about the wait, it is decided the time is right to invite her round for a “ fly cup.” They have also bought some poison. At the visit, revelations unfold, attitudes change, consciences rise and sink, and refreshments are served. Nothing will be the same after Auntie Agatha comes to tea.
