Aberdeen Performing Arts presents True North – Aberdeen’s festival of music and song – will take place in venues around the city from Thursday 22 - Sunday 25 September. The festival is inspired by the fantastic heritage of singer-songwriters in the North-east, and features a line-up of iconic musicians and emerging talent.
What does success look like for women in the music industry? Does this differ from men? Does being a woman pose more opportunities or challenges?
Join a panel of inspiring women from the music industry who will answer these questions and more, and share stories and experiences from their career including the ‘phenomenal women’ who have inspired them. The discussion will be hosted by Scottish music journalist, DJ and broadcaster Nicola Meighan. The panel will include singer-songwriter and former Delgados’ member Emma Pollock, who is curating a concert at True North celebrating the life and music of Kate Bush; Louise Stanners from the Musicians’ Union; electro musician, artist and producer Sarah J Stanley (HQFU) and experienced music programmer and venue manager Jane Spiers who is chief executive of Aberdeen Performing Arts. Further panellists to be announced.
This event is delivered in partnership with 57 North (57north.org)
