In 1992, The Wedding Present equalled Elvis Presley’s record for scoring the most top 30 hits in 12 months...
They achieved this remarkable feat by releasing limited edition 7" singles, one a month from January to December. This kind of thing is common now, but in 1992, it was revolutionary, and saw them on Top Of The Pops four times.
Starting with January's "Blue Eyes" and ending with December's "No Christmas”, each single had a cover version on the flipside, ranging from the sublime (Go Betweens' "Cattle and Cane") to the ridiculous (U.F.O. by Barry Gray).
The band will be playing all the a-sides of The Hit Parade on their upcoming UK tour this autumn along with a sprinkling of their other landmark works.
Ever hard working The Wedding Present shows are taking place throughout 2013 including a George Best Seaside Tour and their At The Edge of the Sea 2013 festival (in Brighton), all during the summer!
