The country’s favourite British Iranian and stand-up subversive Omid Djalili is to take his new show, Iranalamadingdong, to Aberdeen’s Music Hall in the new year.
The award winning comedian, actor, television producer and writer with play the city centre venue on Saturday, January 24 and tickets went on sale at the weekend online at www.aberdeenperformingarts.com, by phone at 01224 641122 and at Aberdeen Box Office at the Music Hall and His Majesty’s Theatre.
The UK tour follows a sell-out four week West-End residency and a sold-out season at Edinburgh Festival.
A firm favourite with his legendary performances, Omid’s stand-up awards include; Time Out Award and EMMA Award for Best Stand Up and a South Bank Award nomination.
He won the Best Actor Award at the Turin Film Festival for his lead performance in The Infidel, which also picked up a Loaded LAFTA award for Funniest film and Omid was also short listed for Peter Sellers Award at the London Evening Standard British Film Awards.
His film credits include Gladiator, The Mummy, Mean Machine, The World Is Not Enough, Alien Autopsy, Spy Game, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Grow Your Own, Notting Hill, Mr Nice, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and Sex and the City 2 and Omid provides his voice in Over the Hedge.
On the stage, Omid played Fagin in the recent West End production of Oliver! at the Theatre Royal in Drury Lane, taking over from Rowan Atkinson.
He has appeared on TV’s Top Gear as a celebrity driver, has guest-hosted the BBC political quiz show Have I Got News for You, starred in his own BBC1 The Omid Djalili Show and last year took part in the television show Splash, as well as hosting on The Great Sport Relief Bake Off.
Omid has been described as the thinking person's Iranian comedian with fine brain and a masterful way with the audience.
