Aladdin will fly into His Majesty’s Theatre on his magic carpet this festive season – and the city theatre is giving away 300 tickets to local community groups and charities to join in the adventure.
Aberdeen Performing Arts (APA), the company which runs the theatre, and the producers of the show, Qdos Entertainment, are inviting groups to apply for the tickets to Christmas pantomime Aladdin.
Charities and community groups are invited to apply using the application form by Monday, November 6. The successful groups will be allocated tickets to one of four panto performances on either Saturday 6 or Sunday 7 January, 2018.
Those who are selected for tickets will enjoy a trip to HMT to see the spectacular panto Aladdin, starring Jimmy Osmond as Abanazer, Alan McHugh as Widow Twankey and Jordan Young as Aladdin himself.
The show is being staged by the same team that brought you the fantastic production of Dick McWhittington last year, with lavish sets, fabulous costumes, and an abundance of comedy.
This year’s production, penned by Alan McHugh, follows the evil sorcerer Abanazer, Aladdin, his brother Wishee Washee and his mother Widow Twankey on a spectacular adventure. Expect flying carpets, a wish-granting genie, an evil sorcerer and a lamp-full of laughts.
APA Chief Executive Jane Spiers said: “The HMT panto is a wonderful festive tradition for a lot of people, and for many children it is their first experience of live theatre. We would like to share that magical excitement with as many people as we can, and we are therefore delighted to continue with our annual tradition of offering tickets for the show to community groups who might not otherwise get to visit the theatre at Christmas.”
Application forms can be downloaded here. Completed forms can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org, posted to: Alice Mills, The Lemon Tree, 5 West North Street, Aberdeen, AB24 5AT, or dropped off at The Lemon Tree or HMT box offices.
They must be in before Monday, November 6, marked FREE PANTO TICKETS and the successful groups will be told by Friday, November 17.
