Elaine to make a triumphant return to Aberdeen panto

Aberdeen Performing Arts announced today that leading Scots actress Elaine C Smith will return to His Majesty’s Theatre to star in this year’s pantomime, Snow White and Seven Dwarfs, following a sell-out success in Jack and the Beanstalk last Christmas and most recently in the Susan Boyle musical I Dreamed A Dream.

This is the fourth consecutive year that she has headlined the city theatre’s Christmas show, and this year she returns to being bad as she takes on the role of The Wicked Queen!

Produced by Qdos Entertainment, the world’s biggest pantomime producer, and staged by the same team behind the theatre’s last five recording-breaking pantomimes, the show also sees the return of HMT favourites Alan McHugh and Jordan Young.

“We are thrilled that Elaine, Alan and Jordan will be returning to the stage of His Majesty’s in what promises to be another spectacular and sell-out family pantomime,” says Michael Harrison, managing director of Qdos Entertainment and executive producer of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

“Every year more and more people come to see the Aberdeen pantomime which has become one of the most successful shows in Scotland.

“There is a terrific on-stage chemistry between Elaine, Alan and Jordan and I have no doubt that we are in for another spectacular five-week run but in the past many people have been left disappointed as they couldn’t get seats, so book early.”

“We are absolutely delighted that the top panto team in Scotland will be returning to HMT for a fourth successive year,” said APA acting chief executive Kathleen Scott.

“Elaine, Alan and Jordan are renowned as legendary pantomime performers - we've had five successive years of record audiences and this will be a classic Christmas treat, not just for children but for all ages.”

Elaine and Alan are currently touring the UK in I Dreamed A Dream, the Susan Boyle musical which they co-wrote together and which has received standing ovations at every performance.

When the show appeared at His Majesty’s Theatre in April it was one of the fastest-selling shows to have been staged at the theatre.
