Tickets for concert to wind up her solo tour went on sale at Aberdeen Box Office at 9am today initially to APA Friends, and sold out in 70 minutes.
“They flew out of the door at breath-taking speed,” said Aberdeen Performing Arts press manager Joyce Summers.
“We knew it was going to be a hugely popular gig – Emeli obviously has an enormous following in a city which regards her with great affection as their own.
“People started queuing just after 7am and the phones have never stopped. Luckily we drafted extra staff in to cope with the calls, so all went well and we are now looking forward enormously to what is sure to be a fantastic gig on April 19.”
Emeli’s last appearance in the city was her headlining performance as part of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay in June, where she played a short set to thrilled fans at the city’s Castlegate; her last full concert here was a sell-out show at the Music Hall, was in April last year.
Her debut album, Our Version of Events, has now been in the UK Top 10 for 50 weeks straight and her latest single Clown is a Top 10 sales and airplay hit.
