Field Music nominated for the Mercury Music Prize

Field Music's new album Plumb has just been announced as a nominee for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize 2012.  The prize is awarded annually to what is judged as being the best British album and exists soley to champion music in the UK.  Previous winners have included Elbow, Arctic Monkeys, PJ Harvey, Pulp and Primal Scream.

Details released yesterday show the band alongside Alt-J, Ben Howard, Django Django, Jessie Ware, Lianne La Havas, Michael Kiwanuka, Plan B, Richard Hawley, Roller Trio, Sam Lee and The Maccabees.  To celebrate, they have put a free download on their website www.field-music.co.uk.
