Talented young local performers are to get the chance to tread the boards at His Majesty’s Theatre in Aberdeen this Christmas alongside panto stars Elaine C Smith, Alan McHugh and Jordan Young.
For open auditions are being held for the roles of Michael and John Darling in this year’s spectacular swashbuckling adventure Peter Pan, which runs at the city centre theatre from Saturday, November 28 to Sunday, January 3.
Aberdeen Performing Arts and pantomime producers Qdos Entertainment are holding open auditions on Saturday, October 17 at the Music Hall in Aberdeen for four local boys to take on the two roles.
The successful applicants will get the chance to work with Aberdeen’s panto Queen Elaine C Smith as the Magical Mermaid, as well as the city’s favourite comedy duo Alan McHugh as Dame Maggie Celeste and Jordan Young as Smee.
The auditioning panel will consist of APA marketing officer Alice Mills, Evening Express writer Donna Ewen and Peter Pan director and choreographer Nick Winston and applicants will be asked to present a prepared monologue, poem or rhyme of their choice and should also be prepared to read from a short except from the script.
Auditionees will need to meet the following criteria – be no taller than 4’6” for Michael and 4’8” for John; must be accompanied throughout the audition by a parent/guardian and must be available to perform throughout the entire pantomime run, from the start of rehearsals on Monday, November 16 until Sunday, January 3.
