Superstar singer and song-writer Emeli Sandé is to play TWO homecoming gigs on the same day at Aberdeen’s Music Hall, after the first sold out within 70 minutes on Friday.
The Alford-born chart-topping performer has decided to stage an extra, earlier show in the early evening on Friday, April 19, after selling out the evening performance.
Tickets for the earlier gig, with doors at 4.30pm, go on sale at 9am tomorrow (Wednesday) on a first-come first-served basis online at www.boxofficeaberdeen.com, by phone at 01224 641122 and at Aberdeen Box Office at the Music Hall and His Majesty’s Theatre.
The doors-open time for the later concert will be pushed back a little, from 7.30pm to 8pm, to accommodate the earlier performance, and Aberdeen Box Office will be contacting ticket holders about the new time.
"Thank you to all of you who bought tickets for my show in Aberdeen,” said Emeli.
“I was really disappointed that there were so many people who were unable to get a ticket, so because of that, I'll be playing a special early evening show to accommodate the demand.
“I'm really looking forward to what is now going to be a very special day back with family, friends and fans in my hometown. See you then!”
“We are delighted that Emeli is to hold another gig that day, as we are aware that there were fans disappointed on Friday when they were unable to get tickets for the late evening show,” said Aberdeen Performing Arts press manager Joyce Summers.
“We are looking forward to welcoming her back to the Music Hall twice as much now!”
Emeli’s last appearance in the city was her headlining performance as part of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay in June, where she played a short set to thrilled fans at the city’s Castlegate; her last full concert here was a sell-out show at the Music Hall, was in April last year.
Her debut album, Our Version of Events, has now been in the UK Top 10 for 50 weeks straight and her latest single Clown is a Top 10 sales and airplay hit.
