The Beatles back in Aberdeen!

The Beatles back in Aberdeen!

It is 50 years since The Beatles played here but the next best thing – the hugely successful West End Fab Four extravaganza – is heading for Aberdeen.

Following its amazing run in London, the hit show Let It Be will be staged at His Majesty’s Theatre from Monday to Saturday, April 14 to 19 next year, as the first Scottish date of its UK and Ireland tour.

Tickets go on sale to APA Friends on Thursday (October 17) and to the general public on Tuesday, October 22, online at, by phone at 01224 641122 and at Aberdeen Box Office at the Music Hall and His Majesty’s Theatre.

Echoing The Beatles’ own early UK tours, Let It Be will play the length and breadth of the country – they played Aberdeen’s Beach Ballroom in January 1963.

“The Beatles are the world’s most successful rock ‘n’ roll band and their visit to Aberdeen 50 years ago, in the early days of Beatlemania, is one of the city’s most abiding memories,” said Aberdeen Performing Arts press manager Joyce Summers.

“We cannot wait to bring back to the city their music and their legacy which still influences bands and musicians today.

“And to be the first venue in Scotland to host the show is a real coup for us.”

The Let It Be tour kicks off in February in Manchester, and several of the original London cast will tour the show, with some new faces joining. The full company will be announced shortly.

Today’s announcement comes hard on the heels of the production’s first birthday in the West End with a celebrity gala performance at its London home, the Savoy Theatre.

Let It Be showcases the Fab Four’s music in a spectacular theatrical concert charting the band’s meteoric rise from their humble beginnings in Liverpool’s Cavern Club, through the height of Beatlemania, to their later studio masterpieces.

The show is packed with more than 40 of The Beatles’ greatest hits including: I Wanna Hold Your Hand, Hard Day’s Night, Day Tripper, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Strawberry Fields, When I’m 64, Get Back and many more.

It has delighted audiences around the world, including New York, Germany and Monaco, with upcoming dates in Japan and Moscow.  The UK tour is produced by Jamie Hendry Productions and Annerin Productions and the West End production is produced by Jamie Hendry Productions, Annerin Productions, BB Promotion, Rubin Fogel & Julian Stoneman Associates.
