Television’s favourite chatty comedian Alan Carr is to return to his stand-up roots next year and star in two intimate gigs at His Majesty’s Theatre in Aberdeen.
His Yap, Yap, Yap shows – on Friday and Saturday, August 14 and 15 – are part of a new UK and Ireland tour by the British Comedy Award winning funnyman, author and chat show supremo.
Tickets for the two Aberdeen shows will be limited to eight per customer and go on sale to APA Friends on Wednesday (November 5) and to the general the following Friday (November 7) online at www.aberdeenperformingarts.com, by phone at 01224 641122 and at Aberdeen Box Office at the Music Hall and His Majesty’s Theatre.
“We are delighted to be able to welcome Alan Carr to Aberdeen, particular at His Majesty’s Theatre which is such an intimate venue and will give fans the chance to get up-close-and-personal with the comedy star,” said Aberdeen Performing Arts press manager Joyce Summers.
“We fully expect the 3000 tickets for the two August nights to fly out the door on Friday and will be drafting in additional Box Office staff to cope with the demand but we would ask people to be patient while they are so busy.”
Since winning the BBC New Comedy Award for Stand-up as well as CityLife Best Newcomer of the Year in 2001, Alan Carr has become one of the hottest comedy stars in Britain.
The success of the first series of his own chat show, Alan Carr: Chatty Man, in the summer of 2009, led to Channel 4 commissioning umpteen further series' as well as Christmas Specials and his summer and New Year Specstaculars.
The chat show won the 2013 BAFTA for Best Entertainment Performance and 2013 British Comedy Award for Best Comedy Entertainment Personality, and in previous years a clutch of awards from the 2012 National Television Award for Best Talk Show, and the 2012 Loaded LAFTA Award for Best Stand Up and the 2010 TV Choice Awards for Best Entertainment Show.
There were also nominations for Best New British Comedy & Best Comedy Entertainment Personality at the 2009 British Comedy Awards. Alan Carr: Chatty Man is now firmly established as one of the nation's favourite entertainment TV shows.
His New Year Specstaculars aired on New Year's Eve 2011, 2012 and 2013 on Channel 4 and his Summer Specstaculars include a Grand National Special in 2013 and 2014.
And he has performed for her Majesty The Queen at the Royal Variety Performance.
