Aberdeen Performing Arts presents True North – Aberdeen’s festival of music and song – celebrating the North-east's singer songwriter tradition and providing a platform for the very best music and song, from ballads to contemporary classics.

Events were held in venues across the city centre offering a range of shows in intimate settings all the way up to large scale gigs. Audiences could even sample some local cuisine with our very own Scottish tapas menu.

This year's True North – Aberdeen’s festival of music and song – will take place between Friday 23 - Sunday 25 September 2016 and promises to be bigger and better.
The event will carry a theme of “women and song” and will explore the nature of the female voice and feature gigs with a host of top names, upcoming talent along with panel discussions and workshops.

Holding up to 540 standing or 300 seated, The Lemon Tree is an ideal venue to discover the next generation of stars alongside established legends.

Another spectacular venue with a 300 seated capacity, Queen's Cross Church saw an incredible concert from Rachel Sermanni and The Unthanks at True North and was one of the highlights of the 2015 festival.
A stunning room awaits performers and audiences alike with views across the Aberdeen seafront through a huge church window. Perfect for an intimate, up close and personal set.
