Aberdeen International Youth Festival is celebrating its 40th anniversary with an eclectic programme of music, dance and theatre in venues across Aberdeen and the Shire.
AIYF began its life as a classical music festival in the 1960s in Switzerland and moved to Aberdeen in 1973. Now, 40 years on, and the festival has grown to include many genres of the youth arts movement including dance, theatre, opera and world music.
A truly international event participants travel from all four corners of the globe to take part in AIYF. The festival is also committed to supporting emerging talent from across Scotland and the rest of the UK. In the last 40 years AIYF has hosted more than 25,000 young people from around the globe, making it one of the biggest and most successful gatherings of youth talent held anywhere in the world.
