Page to Stage: Call Out For Writers

Writers aged 18-25 based in/around Aberdeen are invited to submit short five-minute theatre scripts to be performed at our Page to Stage event in June as part of Light The Blue 2023. Selected scripts will be rehearsed in front of a live audience with actors and a director, followed by a script-in-hand reading and Q&A.

Deadline for submissions: 11pm, Monday 29th May

Page to Stage is a fantastic platform for writers based in/around Aberdeen to see their work performed, receive feedback and connect with fellow theatre makers. The event is a perfect opportunity to test out ideas and inform the next stage of development for new plays.

Scripts should be written with suitability for performance as a rehearsed reading in mind, with limited or no tech requirements. Scripts should be able to be performed by a maximum of 3 actors. There is no set theme for submissions.

As this event is taking place as part of Light The Blue 2023, the opportunity is open to writers aged 18-25.

Selected writers must be able to attend the performance event on Monday 12th June at the Lemon Tree, Aberdeen.

Submission details:

Please submit a maximum 5-minute extract (2-3 pages, 12 point font, double spacing) to jordan.blackwood@aberdeenperformingarts.com by 11pm, Monday 29th May.

  • A title page
  • Short synopsis
  • Brief character descriptions

Please also tell us your age and where you are based in the email.

We anticipate selecting 3-4 scripts for the event. All writers who submit will be notified of the outcome no later than 31st May.
