Light the Blue 2019

Where sparks ignite

10th-15th June

This June, Aberdeen Performing Arts is delighted to present our second annual youth arts festival, Light the Blue. Join us for an electrifying programme of youth theatre and performance, music from local young talent, skills workshops and an explosive closing gig from Project Band.

Celebrating the talent and creative vision of young artists from across the region, Light the Blue invites performers and audiences alike to ignite the bright sparks of the future. Stand well back!

If you or your company would like to learn more about the festival or would like to get involved, please contact Laura Callahan, Drama Development Coordinator at Laura.Callahan@aberdeenperformingarts.com.

The full programme will be announced on 26th April.

In Performance

Light the Blue creates a platform for local talent to showcase their work, share ideas and make new connections. Expect a diverse and exciting line-up of emerging young artists bringing you new devised work and fresh takes on classic texts, street theatre and talent showcases, intimate acoustic gigs and an explosive closing party from the wonderful Project Band.

Take Part

The participation programme is the heart of the festival and this year we are offering more opportunities to get involved. Join us for a range of workshops and talks from industry active professionals, including a panel discussion on the future of the arts in Scotland and a day long masterclass with acclaimed physical theatre company Frantic Assembly.
