Family fun this Summer at His Majesty’s Theatre

Summer is upon us, and with it comes weeks of endless opportunities – for family fun, and new experiences for your little ones!

With that in mind, His Majesty’s Theatre in Aberdeen have programmed a series of shows for budding young theatre goers packed with all of their favourites.

And with shows such as Peppa Pig’s Adventure, What the Ladybird Heard, Bing Live! and Funbox: Dinosaur Safari on offer over the coming weeks, there’s plenty of chances for a fun-filled day out.

Aberdeen Performing Arts Director of Programming and Creative Projects, Ben Torrie, said: “We are dedicated to providing a fun, relaxed environment for our youngest audience members to have their first taste of the theatre, and our Summer programme reflects that.

“We hope that these shows will bring smiles to a lot of little faces at HMT over the coming weeks.”

Peppa Pig’s Adventure gets the summer off to a great start on July 4-5, where you can join Peppa as she gets ready to go on an exciting camping trip to the woods with George and her school friends, including Pedro Pony, Suzy Sheep and Gerald Giraffe.

With lunchboxes packed and Daddy Pig driving the bus, Peppa and her friends are excited about their outdoor adventure, full of games, laughter and loud music!

The happy campers soon settle down to sleep and listen to the gentle pitter patter of rain. Safe and warm inside their tents the excited group can look forward to morning time, when there will be lots of muddy puddles to play in!

Family favourite What the Ladybird Heard comes to HMT from 24-26 July.  Two crafty robbers, one tiny ladybird and a whole farmyard of fun!  Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len have a cunning plan to steal the farmer’s fine prize cow. But they reckon without the tiniest, quietest creature of all: the Ladybird has a plan of her own!

Join the woolly sheep, the hairy hog, the fat red hen and the dainty dog in this brand new stage adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Lydia Monks’ colourful farmyard adventure. With live music, puppetry, plenty of audience participation and lots of laughs!

Bing Live! arrives at the theatre from 7-8 August. In this first ever Bing stage show, join Bing, Sula, Coco, and Pando as they find out how to tell stories by pretending, dressing up, and singing songs. Flop and Amma are there to help, but in this magical world of make-believe things don’t always go according to plan!

Don’t miss the chance to see your little one’s face as their favourite characters are brought to life. Full of fun, laughter and music, Bing Live! is the perfect first theatre trip for pre-schoolers and their families.

Funbox are on a Dinosaur Safari as they roar in to HMT on 11 August.  Get ready for some Stone Age singalong silliness as Anya, Kevin and Bonzo (formerly of The Singing Kettle) are in a prehistoric pickle as they go on a quest to find their keys and discover different Dino-pals.

Packed with sing-along favourites like ‘The Bear came over the Mountain’, ‘Knick Knack Paddy Whack’, and ‘Eye, Nose, Cheeky, Cheeky Chin’ as well as brand new songs, Dinosaur Safari is the gigantic treat for all the family.
You might even get to help on stage! Come dressed for the safari as a dinosaur, explorer or cave person – and get ready to roar and stomp with Funbox.

Tickets for all of these shows are available from, in person at the box office or telephone (01224) 641122.
