A thrilled His Majesty’s Theatre audience were treated on Friday evening to a surprise appearance from Take That mega-stars Gary Barlow and Howard Donald, who were in Aberdeen to introduce their smash-hit musical, The Band.
Gary and Howard arrived at the theatre on Friday and took the time to greet fans waiting outside, ahead of their special appearance on stage that evening.
The duo, who are two thirds of the current Take That line up along with Mark Owen, came on stage to thunderous cheers and applause and addressed the audience, before introducing the show.
Addressing the crowd, Gary spoke of his delight at having two musicals on tour in Scotland at the same time, with Calendar Girls the Musical on in Edinburgh the same week.
The Band, which runs at HMT until this Saturday (October 13), is written by Tim Firth and features the music of Take That, with a storyline centred around a group of young friends who bond over their love of a boyband, but are split apart by tragedy before reuniting years later to find that life has not turned out quite as they had planned.
Calendar Girls the Musical comes to HM Theatre from February 19 until March 2, 2019.
Aberdeen Performing Arts Chief Executive Jane Spiers said: “We were delighted to welcome Gary Barlow and Howard Donald to Aberdeen for a special appearance at His Majesty’s Theatre – what a treat for our audience! It was a fantastic evening.”
