Stuart Cosgrove, author of an award-winning trilogy of books on soul music and social change, discusses some of the key themes of his social history which sweeps across the major centres of black music—Detroit, Memphis and Harlem. Hear about the assassination of Martin Luther King, the undercover police operation against the Harlem Black Panthers, the FBI’s controversial undercover operations in the ghettos of sixties America, and the surprising link between soul music and murder.
