It is impossible to think of impressionism, in art or music, without the French masters coming to mind. Here, transport yourself back to early 20th century Paris with a carefully selected menu of delectable musical treats from the true masters of the form – Debussy, Ravel and Fauré. Led by their charismatic artistic director Jonathan Morton, the energetic Scottish Ensemble put their unique stamp on the programme. These beautiful string ensemble arrangements include some of the best-known melodies of Gabriel Fauré, as well as less familiar but equally stunning works from his compatriots.

Pre-concert talk: Ravel – The Elegant Impressionist with Stephen Johnson, 6.30pm
