© National Museums Scotland

Presented by Stefka Bargazova, Lead Conservator, National Museums Scotland

The exhibition of Scotland’s Early Silver opened at National Museums Scotland (NMS) in Edinburgh in 2017. The exhibition is now touring nationally and can be seen at Duff House, Banff, from October 2018 to March 2019. This presentation will be given by Stefka Bargazova, the lead NMS conservator for the exhibition. Stefka will explore the conservation work of over 400 objects for the exhibition, showcasing several key objects, including the reconstruction of the Roman hacksilver hoard found at Dairsie in Fife (Scotland). The process of conservation to final display will be discussed, involving collaboration between conservators, curators, archaeologists, illustrators, mount-makers and exhibition officers at every step.
